A scenario is a statement of assumptions and configurations concerning the operating environment of a particular system at a particular time. (Turban et al. 2005)
Scenarios are combinations and permutations of facts and related projected and assumed natural and social changes.
Scenarios are narratives or sets of assumptions that explore plausible trajectories of change. They provide a means for envisioning possible future changes and different policy and investment options. Scenarios translate complex thoughts into plausible descriptions about what could be in the future. (FHWA 2010)
