Ecological restoration is the process of assisting the recovery of an ecosystem that has been degraded or seriously damaged. An ecosystem has been restored when it contains sufficient biotic and abiotic resources to continue development without further assistance or subsidy. The restored ecosystem should sustain itself structurally and functionally.
