Water/Sewer Utility

A public utility (usually just utility) is a company that maintains infrastructure for a public service such as delivering clean water or managing human waste. Public utilities can be privately or publicly owned. Cooperative and municipal utilities are publicly owned. Municipal utilities can include territories outside city limits or not even serve the entire city. Cooperative utilities are owned by the customers they serve. Private utilities, also called investor owned utilities, are owned by investors and not by the public or the government.
