Impact Analysis

Impact analysis is the assessment of the pros and cons of pursuing a course of action in terms of possible intended or unintended consequences, as well as the extent and nature of changes brought about by the action. Critical to an impacts analysis is the ability to capture the key mechanisms at work in the decision domain (to model them), so that given a suggested sets of actions to be taken on the system, their effects can be estimated.
